Shiv Jha, MD
Dr. Jha is a dual board-certified psychiatrist (American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, ABPN) who works with a wide variety of psychiatry disorders in the Boston metro area, certified in both Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry by the ABPN.
He distinctly enjoys working with patients of all ages — up to 100 years old or more. He deals with a wide spectrum of disorders, particularly dementia, eating disorders, psychosis, depression, bipolar disorders, and anxiety, and many more. He holds a specialized degree in treating dementia and other elderly disorders from an accredited fellowship program at Harvard Medical School.
Research & academia
Dr. Jha's academic training spans some of Boston's leading medical institutions. He completed a Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship at Cambridge Health Alliance, a Harvard Medical School-affiliated teaching site, and served as Chief Resident during his psychiatry residency at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Tufts University.
He was a Fellow at McLean Hospital's Brain Imaging Center, analyzing fMRI, PET, and SPECT data to study brain function, and completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at Boston University School of Medicine investigating the neurobiology of substance use and aging. He went on to serve as psychiatrist-in-charge of the Dementia Special Care unit at McLean Hospital.
He is board certified in both Psychiatry (2009) and Geriatric Psychiatry (2010) by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
His commitment to mental health extends beyond the clinic — earlier in his career, he volunteered with Befrienders International, supporting suicide prevention and counseling efforts in India.
He has published several peer-reviewed articles and written textbook chapters, along with a book publication: It's Okay: The Many Shades of Dementia.
